1. About this policy
TaroLens is an app for learning programming, algorithms, and computer science, made by Bright Studio. This policy explains what information we collect when you use TaroLens, why we need it, and what control you have over it. When we say "we" or "us", we mean Bright Studio, the trading name of Sang Nguyen, an individual developer based in Vietnam. Sang Nguyen is responsible for your personal data under this policy.
You can use parts of TaroLens without an account. Subscribing to Pro requires you to sign in.
TaroLens is available on Android through Google Play and on iOS through the App Store. When we say "the store", we mean whichever one you downloaded TaroLens from.
2. What we collect
Your account
You can sign in with Google, with an email address and password, or, on iOS, with Apple. Depending on how you sign in, we receive your email address, and sometimes your name and profile photo. If you use a password, it's stored securely by our sign-in provider. We can't see it, and we never see your Google or Apple password.
How the app is running
To keep TaroLens working and to improve it, we automatically collect some basic information:
- Your device model, operating-system version, app version, language, and time zone.
- Which features you use and when, so we know what's helpful and what isn't.
- Crash reports, so we can find and fix bugs.
- A device token, so we can send you the notifications you've turned on.
- Your approximate location (country or region), estimated from your IP address, so we can see where the app is used. Our servers also keep your IP address in short-term logs to troubleshoot problems.
If you're signed in, crash reports can be linked to an account ID. That ID doesn't contain your name or email.
Subscriptions
When you subscribe, we receive the plan you chose, whether it's active, and when it renews or ends. Payment is handled entirely by the store. We never see your card number or other payment details.
Content reports
If you report a problem with a lesson, we receive your account ID, the reason you choose, any note you write, and basic device details like your phone model and screen size, so we can find and fix the problem. Please don't include personal information in your note.
Permissions
TaroLens doesn't ask for your location, contacts, microphone, or camera. We only ask for notification permission when you choose to turn on reminders or notifications, and you can turn them off anytime in your phone's settings.
3. How we use it
We use this information to:
- Run your account.
- Send the notifications you asked for.
- Review content reports and fix problems in lessons.
- Give you access to Pro when you subscribe.
- Find and fix crashes and make the app better.
- Prevent fraud and keep accounts secure.
- Answer your support and privacy requests.
- Meet our legal, tax, and accounting obligations.
4. Who we share it with
We don't sell your data. We share it only with a few services that help us run TaroLens. We only use services that protect your data at least as well as this policy describes, and each of them also has its own privacy policy:
- Google Firebase handles sign-in, sends notifications, stores content reports, and gives us usage stats and crash reports. Firebase privacy · Google Privacy Policy
- RevenueCat manages subscriptions and the subscription screen. It receives your account ID and subscription-related information, such as your subscription status and country, never your payment details. RevenueCat Privacy Policy
- Google Play and the App Store process your payment when you subscribe, depending on where you downloaded TaroLens.
We may also share information if the law requires it, or to protect our users or others from harm. If TaroLens is sold or transferred to a new owner, your data may be transferred too. We'll let you know before your data becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
5. How long we keep it
- Your account is kept for as long as you have it.
- Usage stats, crash reports, and server logs are kept for a limited period, then deleted automatically.
- Content reports are kept to help us improve lessons, including after you delete your account.
- Subscription records are kept as long as we need them to confirm your access and handle billing questions.
- Data saved on your phone stays until you clear the app's storage or uninstall it. Downloaded Pro lessons may be removed sooner if you sign out or your subscription ends.
After you delete your account, we may keep a small amount of information when the law requires it, or to handle fraud, security, or billing disputes. We don't use it for anything else.
6. Deleting your account
You can delete your account at any time. In the app, open Profile, tap Delete account, and confirm. This permanently deletes your account and can't be undone.
Can't get into the app? Email brightstudio.dev@gmail.com with the subject "TaroLens Account Deletion". Please don't include your password or payment details.
To protect your account, we only accept deletion requests sent from the email address on your TaroLens account. Requests from any other address won't be processed.
Within 30 days of your request, we will:
- Delete your sign-in account.
- Delete the subscription access records tied to your account.
- Ask RevenueCat to delete your subscription records.
Content reports you've sent are kept. They include your old account ID, but once your account is deleted, that ID no longer connects to your name or email.
Data saved on your phone has to be removed by you: clear the app's storage or uninstall TaroLens. Deleting your TaroLens account doesn't delete your Google or Apple account.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you can ask us to:
- Show you the data we have about you, or send you a copy.
- Correct anything that's wrong.
- Delete your data.
- Limit or stop certain uses of your data.
- Withdraw consent you've given us.
To make a request, email brightstudio.dev@gmail.com. We may need to confirm it's you first, and in a few cases the law lets us decline.
If you're in the EU, EEA, or UK, we rely on these legal grounds: providing the service you signed up for, meeting legal obligations, our legitimate interest in keeping the app secure and improving it, and your consent where we ask for it. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
If you're in Vietnam, you have the rights set out in the Law on Personal Data Protection (Law No. 91/2025/QH15), including the right to complain, take legal action, and seek compensation.
8. Security and where data is stored
We protect your data with encrypted connections and access controls, and we check that requests to our servers come from the real app. No system is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to keep your information safe.
The services we use operate worldwide, so your data may be stored outside your country, where privacy laws may be different. Where the law requires it, we and these services use appropriate safeguards for these transfers.
9. Age requirement
TaroLens is only for people aged 13 and over, and we don't knowingly collect data from anyone younger. If we find out an account belongs to someone under 13, we'll delete it. If you think someone under 13 has given us personal data, please let us know.
If you're under 16, or under the age your country sets for agreeing to the use of your personal data, a parent or guardian must agree to this policy for you.
10. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page. For important changes, we may also let you know in the app.
